Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Ȼentiment (“Centiment,” “we,” “us”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Centiment iOS application (“the App”). By using the App you consent to the practices described here.
1. What we collect
We collect only what is necessary to operate the App and the data product described below.
- Account information. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive a Firebase user identifier (UID), and (when you choose to share it) your display name and email. Guest users are assigned an anonymous UID with no name or email.
- Swipe data. Each time you swipe on a stock we store a record containing your UID, the ticker, the swipe direction (BUY / SELL / HOLD / YOLO), and a timestamp.
- Device and diagnostic data. Standard server logs (IP, app version, OS version, crash traces) are retained for up to 30 days to debug failures and prevent abuse.
- What we do not collect. We do not collect contacts, photos, precise location, microphone, camera, health, financial account numbers, payment information, browsing history outside the App, or your contact list. The App contains no third-party advertising SDKs and does not use the Apple advertising identifier (IDFA).
2. How we use it
- To run the App: authenticate your session, show your swipe history, render real-time sentiment charts after each swipe.
- To produce aggregate sentiment statistics per stock — for example, “62% of Centiment users voted BUY on NVDA in the last 24 hours.” These aggregates are derived from many users and contain no information that identifies any individual.
- To detect and prevent abuse, spam, or rate-limit violations.
- To respond to you when you contact support.
3. How we share it
- Aggregate, anonymised sentiment data may be shared or sold to research partners, financial institutions, or hedge funds. These exports never contain your UID, display name, email, individual swipe records, or any field that could identify a specific user. They contain only counts, percentages, and timestamps per stock ticker.
- Service providers. Authentication and storage are handled by Google Firebase (Google LLC), which acts as a processor under our instructions. Crash and performance data is processed by the same provider. We do not sell or rent personally identifying information to anyone.
- Legal requirements. We may disclose information if required by a valid legal process or to protect the rights, property, or safety of users or the public.
4. Your rights and choices
- Access & deletion. You can permanently delete your account, profile, and complete swipe history from inside the App: Profile → Delete Account. Deletion is irreversible and typically completes within minutes.
- Aggregate data. Aggregate statistics computed before your deletion will continue to exist (your individual contribution is no longer identifiable in them once your records are removed).
- Email us. For any other request — including under GDPR (EU/EEA/UK) or CCPA (California) — write to privacy@centiment.app. California residents have the right to opt out of the “sale” of personal information; because the data we share is fully anonymised aggregate, we do not believe it qualifies as personal information, but we will honour any opt-out request you send to that address.
5. Data retention
We retain account and swipe records for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, those records are removed within 7 days. Server logs are kept for up to 30 days. Aggregate, anonymised statistics may be retained indefinitely.
6. Security
Data in transit is protected with TLS. Data at rest is stored in Google Firebase Firestore with industry-standard encryption. No system is perfectly secure; please use a strong, unique password for the Apple ID or Google account you use to sign in.
7. Children
Centiment is not directed to children under 17 and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has provided us with information, contact privacy@centiment.app and we will delete it.
8. International transfers
Centiment is operated from the United States. If you use the App from outside the U.S., your information will be transferred to and processed in the U.S. We rely on Google's Standard Contractual Clauses for cross-border transfers where applicable.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced in-app at least seven days before they take effect. Continued use of the App after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
